How I Follow the Markets Each Morning

A simple, repeatable routine for staying informed without drowning in headlines.

Every morning starts the same way: a short, focused read of what changed overnight and why it matters. Consistency beats volume. Fifteen focused minutes every day teaches more than an occasional deep dive.

I start with the big picture: major indexes, Treasury yields, and any economic data released that day, such as jobs, inflation, or Federal Reserve news. These set the backdrop for everything else.

Next come companies and deals: earnings, mergers, financings, and leadership changes, with extra attention to businesses in Tampa Bay and Florida. Local news is where markets become personal and where relationships start.

Finally, I write down one takeaway. Writing it down forces clarity: what happened, why it matters, and what I’d want to learn next. Over time those notes become a record of how my thinking develops.

None of this is about predicting tomorrow’s prices. It’s about building a habit of understanding, one day at a time.
